Wondering what’s been happening with Instagram? Well, the latest updates will be music to the ears of marketers as well as those who love their Instagram Stories.
The photo-sharing app rolled out its new features on Tuesday and the most important one for those who are interested in paid ads is that full-screen interactive ads, or Canvas ads as it is more commonly known, are now available in Instagram Stories.
Canvas ads, which have been available on Facebook since 2016, allow advertisers to “capture the complete attention” of their audience as “it loads instantly and is mobile-optimised”.
Once a user clicks on your ad it changes into a full-screen experience and the feature has finally been integrated with Instagram Stories.
In a blog post, the company revealed that “Instagram Stories is becoming an increasingly powerful way for brands to stand out and inspire action” as “250m people around the world watch and create stories everyday”.
“With the ability to utilize Facebook’s fast-loading full screen Canvas format in Instagram Stories, marketers are able to use the creative versatility of Canvas to tell compelling brand and product stories,” the post added. “This seamless extension of the full screen experience allows advertisers to capture the attention of customers with just a single ad.”
There is further good news for businesses and brands as they can now also use their existing organic Instagram Stories as paid ads and it will be a seamless process as marketers can make the tweaks via Power Editor and Ads Manager.
Don’t worry #Igers, the company didn’t forget about you when it comes to Instagram Stories as you can now share your favourite Stories via Direct Message.
And it is pretty easy as all you have to do is tap on the Direct Message icon in the bottom right corner once you have landed on the story, select the friend or group you want to share it with, press send and Bob is your uncle, and he will now know what your fave story is.
