#HappyBirthdayMetis – We are 7 today!

Today marks Metis Marketing Solutions’ seventh birthday and we just wanted to say thank you, thank you, thank you! Thank you for your loyal support as we would not have made it this far without you.

Many things are connected to the number seven: Seven days in a week, there are seven continents, seven notes on a musical scale and seven colours of the rainbow.

Seven is also considered a lucky number, especially if you are a gambler, although we know that luck has nothing to do with success – it takes perseverance, hard work, determination and awesome clients!

“Luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity.”

The above quote, attributed to Roman philosopher Seneca, certainly rings true for Metis founder Chantelle Bowyer.

It started with a vision from CcB and seven years later Metis has eight full-time employees and nearly 100 clients. We know, right?!

But the last seven years haven’t all been champagne and caviar. Metis has been built on blood, sweat, hard graft – mostly by CcB – and tremendous support from our clients.

Seven Years Old

Urban Spaces was one Metis’ first client when we opened the doors in 2010 and seven years later they are still on our books. Thanks guys!

Since then we have gone from strength to strength with new clients joining every month, but we have also parted ways with many clients.

Some left because they have outgrown us, some left because they opted to take a different road and some left because the economic climate meant they had to pursue other avenues.

While they may no longer be on our books, every client has played a role in Metis’ growth and we once again want to say a heartfelt thank you for the experience you have brought to us.

But the story is far from done and in the immortal words of legendary South African golfer Gary Player: “The harder you work, the luckier you get.”

Here are interesting bits and pieces from the year 2010, our founding year, and the No 7:

– The biggest event, besides Metis being founded of course duh, was the 2010 Fifa World Cup on South African soil.
– Wikileaks made its debut.
– The Hurt Locker won the Oscar for Best Picture, but Toy Story 3 was the highest-grossing film.
– Kings of Leon won Record of the Year at the Grammy’s with “Use Somebody” while Beyonce’s Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It) was Song of the Year.

Seventh Anniversary Gifts:
Flower Gift: Freesia
Freesias are native to southern Africa and most species are found in the Cape Provinces. The flowers are mostly white and golden yellow, but it also comes in orange, red, pink and lavender.

Gemstone: Onyx
It is native to several South American countries, including Argentina and Brazil, as well as Australia, China, Canada, Germany and the United States.

But now for the interesting part. Onyx can help release negative emotions or end unhappy relationships. It can also be worn to defend against negativity that is directed at you.

Yes, everyone at Metis will be wearing Onyx for the rest of our lives as we want to get rid of all the negative energy.

Thank you once again for your support.

With lots of love,
The Metis Family
